Perfume’s A-chan gushes over Matsu-Jun

Perfume showed up at the rehearsal for “Kohaku Uta Gasen” which was held on December 29th, and at the press conference, member A-chan (Nishiwaki Ayaka) confessed about the dream she had last night to the media.

A-chan said, “I had a dream about Matsujun-san last night.” She said Arashi member, Matsumoto Jun and her went to a cell phone store together in Hiroshima where Perfume’s home town is. It sounds like they were a couple in her dream, but A-chan said that she was more like his assistant. She also said she told Matsumoto Jun about the dream and that he had a good laugh about it.

[News] 2010 Daum Life On Awards: SNSD's 'Oh!' selected as the 'Music of The Year'

Daum Communications have announced the winners for the ‘2010 Daum Life On Awards‘ where the award ceremony will be taking place on January 3rd, 2011 at the El Tower Grand Hall in Yangje-Dong. Kim Jedong will be the host for the ceremony.

From December 2nd to December 22nd, Daum conducted the online voting process to determine the winners of the ’2010 Daum Life On Award’ through its website. There are 22 categories of awards with 28 award recipients in total.

In the ‘Contents Category’ netizens have selected SNSD‘s ‘Oh!‘ as the winner for ‘Music of the Year‘ award, adding another trophy to their collection in 2010 after being crowned with various prestigious year-end awards.

Winner in each category will receive prize money of 1,000,000 Won and a trophy. The winner for ‘view Grand Award’ will be receiving 5,000,000 Won and the nominees who made it to the final round will also be presented with special gifts.

This award was organized in conjunction with a donation campaign and netizens were charged 100 Won for every vote they cast. From the 21-day voting period, a total of 27,000,000 Won was collected from 89,764 people who participated in the online voting. The sum of money collected will be channeled to Korea Association of Social Welfare Centers to help the less fortunate families all over the country.

[News] TVXQ to unveil title track from new album on Jan 3rd

TVXQ will unveil the title track from their upcoming album next week ahead of their comeback, according to their agency SM Entertainment on Thursday. 

SM announced in a press release that TVXQ will reveal the song "Keep Your Head Down" on January 3 on various online music sites, two days before their album of the same name goes on sale, while the teaser video for the song will be available on their official website and YouTube channel tomorrow. 

Meanwhile, the boys revealed two versions of a teaser video, in the format of a commercial, which aired for the first time on December 29 during SBS' "Gayo Daejun" and MBC's Entertainment Awards. It will be shown on other year-end programs on major Korean networks till tomorrow. 

TVXQ, formerly composed of five members Xiah Junsu, Hero Jaejung, Micky Yuchun, Max Changmin and U-Know Yunho, is known as one of the leading dance groups in the K-pop market since making their debut in 2004. 

However, after disputing with agency SM Entertainment over the unfairness of their 13-year exclusive contract, Jaejung, Yuchun and Junsu halted their activities as TVXQ and instead formed trio JYJ. 

TVXQ is now a duo with members Changmin and Yunho, who are set to make their comeback to their music scene with a new album “Keep Your Head Down” whose special edition will hit stores on January 5 and the regular version a week later. The same album is also set for release in Japan on January 26.

[News] Tickets sold out for Park Jung Min's fan meeting

Tickets for singer Park Jung-min’s fan meeting sold out in ten minutes of going on sale, announced his agency CNR Media on Wednesday. 

According to CNR, tickets for Park Jung-min’s first exclusive showcase event in Korea slated for January 22 at 7 p.m. in the Dome Art hall in Children’s Grand Park, sold out in 10 minutes of reservations opening on Tuesday.

Park, who was set to release his first album in last November, delayed the date to next year due to the nation being in a state of mourning after North Korea unexpectedly shelled South Korea’s Yeonpyeong Island the same month, taking the lives of two soldiers and two civilians among other casualties caused. 

Park's first solo album “Not Alone” is now set to go on sale on January 20 of next year. 

Park debuted as one of the members in boy band SS501 along with Kim Hyun-joong, Kim Kyu-jong, Heo Young-saeng and Kim Hyung-jun in 2005. He signed with CNR media in August to continue with his singing career after their contract with DSP Media expired in June this year. 

His first exclusive fan meeting in Osaka and Tokyo in Japan held on December 22 and 23 respectively, attracted some 7,000 fans.

Jessica’s fan cafe made donations to a welfare association for the elderly people, ‘Sarang-bang‘.

On December 29th, a representative of ‘Sarang-bang’ said, “On December 23rd, before Christmas, Jessica’s fan cafe, ‘Pure Jessica‘ have donated 1 million Won and some gifts”. To acknowledge the contribution, ‘Sarang-bang’ have publicly revealed a donation certificate bearing the fan cafe’s name.

‘Pure Jessica’ which was founded in 2007 have more than 59,000 members to date.

[News] SNSD maknae Seohyun lives up to her Goddess image

The maknaes of popular idol groups gathered in one place to deliver splendid performances.

On 2010 SBS Gayo Daejun which took place on December 29th starting from 9.55pm KST at Ilsan Kintex, SNSD‘s maknae Seohyun along with MBLAQ’s Mir, After School’s Lizzy, 2PM’s Chansung, SHINee’s Taemin, Kara’s Kang Jiyoung and f(x)’s Sulli performed Britney Spear’s ‘Circus’.

Seohyun awed the crowd and netizens with her glamorous appearance when she ‘descended’ onto the stage like a Goddess dressed in gold with purple silk cloth tied around her waist, which acted as wings when she raised her arms.

[News] ''Athena'' scores 3rd win on Monday and Tuesday nights

SBS' series “Athena” came on top of the Monday and Tuesday prime time slot, according to surveys by two media research firms on Wednesday. 

Data by Total National Media Statistics (TNmS) and AGB Nielsen Media Research revealed that "Athena," a spin-off to KBS' blockbuster hit series "IRIS," posted average viewership ratings of 18.8 percent and 18.2 percent, respectively, both dropping by one percent compared to a week ago.

"Athena," starring actors Jung Woo-sung, Soo Ae, Cha Seung-won and E Ji-ah, deals with world of spies amid competition to secure nuclear technology among governments. 

Coming in second place was MBC's TV series “Queen of Reversals," scoring an average rating of 12.8 percent on TNmS' chart and 15.1 percent on AGB’s poll. 

“Queen of Reversals,” starring Kim Nam-joo, Jung Joon-ho and Park Si-hoo, which tells the story of the joys and struggles in the workplace, has shown signs of gaining on front-runner "Athena" since last week. 

Meanwhile, KBS' drama “Marry me, Mary,” starring Moon Geun-young, Jang Keun-suk and Kim Jae-wook, finished its run this week at No. 3, with average ratings of 5.9 percent on TNmS' survey while data from AGB revealed slightly higher ratings of 6.3 percent. 

"Marry me, Mary," about a girl caught up in a double contractual marriage, ended with a happy ending with Mary (played by Moon) reuniting with Mugyul (played by Jang) after agreeing with Jung-in (played by Kim) that they would not to marry each other for the sake of their fathers. 

The musical drama "Dream High," featuring the star-studded cast of actor Kim Soo-hyun, 2PM members Taecyeon and Wooyoung, miss A's Suzy and T-ara member Eunjung, will go on air after "Mary" starting next week.

[News] Lee Min Ho's new action drama to air in May 2011

The Korean adaptation of the Japanese comic "City Hunter," starring Lee Min-ho, will premiere in May 2010. 

An official from his agency Starhaus Entertainment told 10Asia over the phone Wednesday, "It has been confirmed that the first episode of 'City Hunter' will air on May 25 next year."

"City Hunter," originally a Japanese manga series by Tsukasa Hojo, is about a private detective named Ryo Saeba who works to get of crime in the city of Tokyo during the latter half of the 1980s.

In September, the show's PR firm announced that the 23-year-old heartthrob will be playing the role of Ryo Saeba in the Korean drama version which will take place in present time Seoul, making it the first time for the Japanese comic to be turned into a drama.

Lee first appeared in various TV and short dramas in 2006 and rose to stardom in Korea and throughout Asia after starring in KBS' hit TV series "Boys Over Flowers" alongside Ku Hye-sun and Kim Hyun-joong.

His last small screen role was in March where he pretended to be a homosexual man in MBC's "Personal Taste" opposite Korean actress Son Ye-jin.
