Momoiro Clover’s first shrine visit of 2011

Today the idol group “Momoiro Clover” have participated in their first shrine visit of the New Year at the Gokoku-ji temple in Tokyo and prayed for the success of their new song “Mirai Bowl” as well as the opportunity to appear at the much ballyhooed musical festival Kouhaku at the end of the year. The first shrine visit of the the New Year (“Hatsumoude”) is a traditional procedure in Japan and the 6 girls dressed up in beautiful kimonos for the occasion.


They wrote on the ema, the small wooden board to write your prayers on with, “This year we are definitely going to appear on Kouhaku Uta Gassen!!!” . Leader Momoto Kanako also expressed her own personal goal for 2011: “I want to perform acrobatics that are going to surprise everyone! The whole country shall turn pink (momoiro)!!”

It has also been decided that the group will be going on a nationwide tour and perform a total of 44 concerts in 14 different regions. The first concert is going to take place at Zepp Osaka on January 22nd. On April 10th they are even going to perform at the Nakano Sunplaza.

Further their new single “Mirai Bowl”, that will be used as the theme song for the anime “Dragon Crisis“, will go on sale on March 9th.

A busy and exciting year 2011 seems to await the colorful girls of Momoiro Clover.

[News] The reason for Sunny's tears on 'Come To Play'



Sunny talked about how her parents were concerned because of her adolescent-like attitude which only came after debut.
On MBC’s ‘Come To Play’ aired on January 3rd, Sunny confessed, “I did not go through adolescence. Indeed, there was no adolescent rebellion”.
Sunny elaborated, “My adolescent-like attitude only came after debut which became quite an issue. One day, my sister gave me a call from US. She said, ‘mom and dad wanted to punish you but they decided not to’. After seeing me working so hard, mom and dad just could not get themselves to reveal it to me although it was upsetting for them”.
Sunny added, “When mom and dad noticed what I have gone through, they felt the pain inside them”. After revealing her touching story, tears came rolling down Sunny’s cheeks.

Hey!Say! JUMP holds first 2011 live at Yokohama Arena


Boy band Hey!Say! JUMP held their first solo concert for 2011 at Yokohama Arena on January 2nd. Performing for the third year in a row at that venue, the concert was a stop in their live tour, “Hey!Say! JUMP ‘Arigatou’~Sekai no Doko ni Itemo~ WINTER CONCERT 2010~2011“, which spans 3 cities and 16 stages.

Impressively, the concert at Yokohama Arena – two stages, one day – pulled in a total audience figure of 30,000. Fans were delighted as Hey!Say! JUMP delivered 20 songs, including their latest track, “Arigatou~Sekai no Doko ni Itemo~.”

During the concert, Yabu Kota remarked, “Since this is the year of rabbit in Chinese astrology, I want to jump more like a rabbit! I also want to have our own show this year.” Building on that, fellow member Nakajima Yuto expressed his ambition and hoped for a world tour.

It could be that both Yuto and Kota will see their dreams come true, as Johnny Kitagawa, the president of JE, quipped, “It’s almost time for them to challenge Asia.” Could we expect a grand announcement of a world tour soon??

In the meantime, the boys will continue on with their live tour, which will wrap up on January 16th.

An AKB48 special New Year’s Day program for fans!

AKB48 participated in a special program titled, “Akemashite AKB! 2011 nen mo Gachi de Ikimasu, Name de Haregi de Zenin Shugou Daishinnenkai Special“, which was broadcasted live via Nihon TV on New Year’s Day.

On the show, AKB48 performed their “Best Hit Medley” in kimonos, and the members divided into teams in order to battle for the privilege of tasting delicious Japanese dishes.

“Best Hit Medley”: “Heavy Rotation” + “Ponytail to Shushu” + “Aitakatta”
-”Slide Quiz”: A member from each team is situated on slides, and teams must answer questions correctly to ensure that their teammate doesn’t get her face covered with powder. If the team guesses wrongly, then the slides shift, and the member on the slide must try not to fall.

KAT-TUN’s new CM for “Logtomo” starts airing


KAT-TUN would star in a new CM for a mobile social networking service, “Logtomo,” and the new CM has started airing on January 1st! The theme song they use in the CM is “GIVE ME, GIVE ME, GIVE ME” which was one of the follow up songs in their latest single “CHANGE UR WORLD” (only in regular edition). Check out the CM below!

[News] SNSD appeared as caddies on a golf course on Japan's drama 'Sazae-san Season 3'




SNSD made a cameo appearance on Japan’s drama ‘Sazae-san Season 3′ which was aired on Fuji TV on January 2nd. The girls appeared as caddies on a golf course.
SNSD appeared in Nami Hara’s dream where the main star struck a hole-in-one and the beautiful caddies (SNSD) ran up to him and cheered, “wonderful”, “sugoi(amazing)” and “nice shot”.
With lively gestures and expressions, the girls introduced themselves, “We are Shoujo Jidai” and revealed their dreams by saying, “We want to be singing and dancing stars”. Upon hearing that, the leading male character in the drama gave them a big cheer.
Although it was only a brief and short appearance on the drama, the name ‘Shoujo Jidai’ left a very deep impression in the minds of Japanese viewers.
‘Sazae-san’ is adapted from one of Japan’s popular ‘national animation’ of the same name. Due to the overwhelming response for Season 1 and 2, ‘Sazae-san season 3′ is currently being aired to fulfill the viewers’ high demand.

Traveling with a foreign guest on one of the Foreign Worker Special, Lee Seunggi was directly asked by the guest why he was so famous yet not married. Replying to the conversation, Seunggi was quoted saying : There are a lot of famous people who don’t have girlfriend/boyfriend. I’m working hard and when asked if he considers to have one, he immediately replies that he thinks about it all the time.

[News] Jang Hyuk scores top prize at KBS Drama Awards


Korean actor Jang Hyuk won the top prize at the 2010 KBS Drama Awards, held at the KBS Open Hall on December 31. 

Jang received the grand prize of the year for his role as Dae-gil in the historical series "The Slave Hunters," making it his first award at a year-end ceremony. 

"My heart is beating really fast right now and I want to thank director Gwak Jeong-hwan, scenarist Chun Sung-il and my co-stars Sung Dong-il, Lee Da-hae and Oh Ji-ho," said Jang in his acceptance speech. 

He went on to say, "It's already been 15 years since I started acting and I want to thank everyone at my agency and turn the honor to my parents, my wife and son." 

"The Slave Hunters" also scored wins in five categories including Kim Gap-soo and Oh Ji-ho first and second prizes for best actor, respectively, Sung Dong-il for best supporting actor and Jang Hyuk and Lee Da-hae for best couple.

Other honorable mentions that night were "SungKyunKwan Scandal" which took home five awards and this year's highest viewership ratings-scorer "Bread, Love and Dreams," which collected six awards.
